Anthem of the Seas Day-7 (2024)

 May 4th, 2024 (Day 7)

Star Wars Day!!

We had an unscheduled stop in Porta Delgada at about 2:15 a.m. for a medical emergency of a guest. The patient's transfer was successful, and after less than an hour, we were once again on our way to Madeira Island, Portugal.

We went to the Windjammer at about 8:15 a.m. and had a nice light meal. After that, we trekked to the TWO70 club for what we thought would be trivia, but it ended up being a stretch class. We took a photo of ourselves (not stretching) and then went to the Music Hall club for a seminar.

After the seminar on Hollywood, Esther and I decided to go look at an art auction. That was by far the worst waste of time we've spent on the ship thus far.  Someone actually bid over $10k for a piece of art. There is no way that we would ever pay anything close to that for a painting or art.

I went to the casino for a bit to try and get some more Casino points. Was able to rack up some more points, but now I am down $50 on the cruise.

We then went to the Royal Esplanade and chatted with the crew for over an hour.  They had a lot of great stories to share about the ship, past cruises, and features of the ship. It was a really enjoyable experience for both Esther and I.

We then made our way back to our room to prepare for dinner in the main dining room.  Tonight theme was"A Taste of Royal History"  Esther actually went old school with a grilled cheese sandwich and a warm chocolate cake while I had baked onion soup, herb-crusted salmon, and pecan pie a la mode. The food was great as usual, although the pie tasted more like a sugar free option as it was not sweet at all.

After dinner, we made our way up to deck 15 to the walking track to get in a few laps. The front of the track where it crossed over the front of the ship was closed due to the wind as it was blowing at least 30mph. The rest of the top deck was not windy at all, but the front is a little more exposed to the wind. After a few laps we went to the Royal Theater for a show.

The musical was called "We will rock you", and placed in the future where rock and roll was dead and outlawed.  The song selections and talent were amazing as they sang many 80's rock hits but focusing on music of Queen.  I'll post the show's video later when I get back home.

After the show was over we headed right back to our room to get some sleep since we had to be up early the next day for a port call of Madeira, Portugal.

End-of-day position:
