London Day-4 (Anthem Cruise 2024)
May 13th, 2024 (London Day-4)
We return home today...
We woke up at about 6am to get breakfast and complete some final packing. We got both large bags to weigh just under 50 lbs to avoid any "Heavy" bag charges. We went downstairs at about 7:30 to get a famous London Black Cab. Lucky for us, there was one already waiting outside that was available; this was in part due to being right above the Underground station.
We were able to load up our bags, and two of them went to the front, where there is normally a seat.
We arrived at the airport at about 9am with our flight scheduled to leave at 12:45 p.m.. This was plenty of time to get our bags checked and through security. It only took about 35 minutes to get through security, and so we ended up waiting a while near the main concourse lobby. at about 11:45 a.m. we started our way toward the gate to get checked in. The entire process was really easy and not stressful at all. Right about noon, we were called to board the plane, which we were all able to board pretty quickly, which resulted in us getting underway ahead of schedule.
Flying over Greenland, we were able to see the polar ice, which was really cool!
We landed in Seattle about 30 minutes ahead of schedule and pulled into our international gate. When you arrive in Seattle from an international flight, you have to pick up all your luggage before going through customs. We got off in a decent time and then headed down to pick up our luggage. After about 20 minutes, we were able to pick up our luggage off the belt.
We then headed to customs, and since we had the iOS app, we were able to go through the fast lane. It only took about 10 minutes to get through customs.
The next step was to get back through TSA so we could recheck our luggage for the next flight. This was a complete nightmare! All the signs say to put everything in their bags, but the TSA agents were telling people to take all electronics out of their bags. This led to a lot of confusion and delays. The TSA only had two lines open and was not able to process travelers very fast at all. It took us over 80 minutes to get through TSA with only about 120 people in front of us. We had a 2.5 hour layover, but that was quickly wiped away due to the TSA.
After we got everything packed back up, we headed to the Delta bag drop to transfer the three bags to the plane. We then had to get from terminal S to terminal A, so we rode a little tram to get us to the proper terminal. Once we made it to our gate, we only had about 15 minutes before they started boarding. We would have missed our flight if it wasn't for the plane arriving early!.
The flight home to SLC was uneventful and went by quickly. When we arrived, we had a nice view of the Utah sunset.
