Anthem of the Seas Day-6 (2024)

May 3rd, 2024 (Day 6)

Today, we had to wake up a little earlier to make it to a class that we signed up for. This time, we wanted to try a different place, so we went to TWO70 Cafe, located on deck 5 at the back of the ship. Esther and I picked out some freshly made bagels, and I added cheese, a tomato slice, and some diced onions. The bagels were very delicious. 

We then headed to "Next Cruise", located on deck 5 next to TWO70, to see if there were any open cruising dates. We were looking for dates in 2026 that crossed through the Panama Canal. Unfortunately, no dates have been released yet for us to book. 

We had noticed earlier in the cruise that Esther's Crown & Anchor status was not the same as mine, which is strange since we only sailed with each other on the same itinerary. We headed to the C&A Loyalty desk located on deck 4 in the Royal Esplanade. The ambassador was able to determine the issue fixed it within just a few minutes. Even printed out a new Sea Pass card that showed the updated status. 

We made it to Jamie's Italian Restaurant located on deck 5 for our class.  This was something that we had seen on the activities to sign up to participate in for the last cruises but we just never did.  The class was "Cupcake Decorating Class".  Everyone was led through the hand washing or sanitizer station before sitting down at a table with 12 guests.  On the plate in front of each guest were three cupcakes, one vanilla, one red velvet, and one chocolate. There were several balls of fondant, varying in colors of red, purple, white, and green.  The first part of the class was to make a frog with different colors of fondant.

Once the frog was made, there was a bowl of blue icing on the table where everyone grabbed a knife full of icing and topped their vanilla cupcake. After the cupcake was topped with icing, we then were to place the frog on top of the vanilla cupcake. The next part of the class was to take an icing bag that was prefilled with white vanilla cream top the red velvet cupcake and add some toppings that were in bowls in front of the guests. Then, the host gave each guest a new icing bag and taught everyone how to shape the bag in order to add their own icing into the bag. We then were able to decorate the chocolate cupcake however we wanted.

We were able to take the cupcakes back to our cabin to enjoy later since it was way too early for sweets. 

Esther went to a Beauty workshop, "Smokey Eyes," just after noon on deck 4. The workshop demonstrated how to apply eye shadow to give one's eyes a smokey look. 

Esther returned to the cabin to capture some sun on the balcony while I relaxed watching videos on YouTube. 

Mid-Day position:




We again went to dinner at the main dining room, "Chic," located on Deck 3 on this cruise. We were presented with a taste of Asian cuisine. Esther enjoyed Kung Pow Chicken while I enjoyed Sweet & Sour Pork. We did share a few bites of each other's dishes to get a better experience. Both options were very well prepared. 

After dinner, we made our way to the Royal Theater to enjoy a live performance by Lauren Turner. She sang a lot of "diva" songs from the 80's and 90's.  



After the show, we made our way to the casino. This was our first time in the casino on this cruise and I wanted to rack up some casino loyalty points. Guests can earn 1 Reward Point and Tier Credit for every $5 coin in slot machines and 1 Reward Point and Tier Credit for every $10 coin in video poker machines.  I usually play slot machines. I put in $104, with the $4 from the pull tabs we won the day before at Bingo. I made it all the way up to $429 with the initial wager, but I did cash out after I made 110 points on the night. I cashed out $254, making me $150 ahead of the cruise. 




One of the fun things that we do on the cruise is decorate our door. On this cruise, we had a few new additions from other guests who were nearby. Thanks Melvin!

June 15, 2024   Allure of the Seas Day -2  Cape Canaveral Day 1 Flying from Salt Lake City, UT to Orlando, FL on Spirit Airlines. We arrived at the airport about 7am for our 9:30am flight. This was our first time on Spirit Air and it was not horrible. The seats are very hard and do not have a lot of cushion but the leg room was very nice for basic ticket. We arrived in Orlando about 3:30pm and the humidity was definitely hitting hard! After gathering our luggage from the baggage claim, we headed to Hertz rental cal to get our transportation for the weekend. They gave us a Honda Civic, and we headed out of the airport to Cape Canaveral. We drove about 45 minutes towards the coast to “The Inn at Cocoa Beach”. It was a very nice inn that felt more like a BnB. Very nice and personable staff and the place was right on the beach.  We headed to our room to drop our luggage off and then go get dinner. May 10th, 2024 (Anthem Day-13 & London Day-1 ) Disembarkation Day :( I woke up early due to the time change and thought we could be late. When I checked the Royal Caribbean app, it was not updated with the correct time yet. As we were coming into port, I saw a few ships; one of them was the Queen Anne.

 May 8th, 2024 (Day 11) Today, we had to get up earlier than usual due to a mandatory immigration process for the U.K. Border and security service.  We again ate in the Windjammer and enjoyed the morning meal. We then made our way from deck 14 to where they had the immigration team set up on deck 3 in the main dining room.  The team of three personnel boarded the day prior, and basically, it was the U.K.'s version of customs. The line wound through the dining room and out into the casino. The line moved rather quickly, and overall, we were in line for about 20 minutes. We then hurried off to the "Captain's Corner" Event, where the Captain and the Director of Hotel Operations for the ship answered questions from the guests for over 90 minutes.  The event was only scheduled for 45 minutes and everyone was very pleasant.  It was definitely a treat to get the longer time. Anthem of the Seas Day-9 (2024)

  May 6th, 2024 (Day 9) We started off with breakfast in the Windjammer at about 9 a.m., and Esther went to a self-led “Knitting” session in the TWO70 club while I walked around the ship getting photos.  We stayed in the TWO70 club to watch a few shows with the robotic LED screen.  (I’ll add them later after we get home). The show was to showcase how the robots could be used with screens to make their own show.  Afterward, we both wandered around the ship, looking at sales in the Royal Esplanade, getting ice cream poolside on deck 14, and getting a hot dog at the "Dog House" located within the SportsPlex on deck 14.  The dinner menu in the Main Dining Room looked less than appealing, so we went to the Windjammer, where both of us found food that we enjoyed. May 7th, 2024 (Day 10) We started off with breakfast in the Windjammer at about 10 a.m., a rather late start due to the weather watching from the previous night.  We were able to get off the ship today since it was a port call in La Coruna, Spain at about 12:30 p.m. and made our way to the beach.  So one of the things you have to keep in mind is Spain's beaches are topless... All the pictures are safe. We walked about 2 miles to the Tower of Hercules, the oldest known Roman lighthouse, dating back to the 1st century and still operating today.  After a walk around the lighthouse, we returned to the ship to relax our backs since we both were aching a bit. We walked about 5.6 miles in all, some of it steep uphill. Due to the short port day, we didn't do too much other sightseeing, but we were excited about London coming up this weekend.
