Anthem of the Seas Day-5 (2024)
May 2nd, 2024 (Day 5)
We slept well last night with only slight motion from the ocean. We awoke shortly after 8am and slowly got ready for the day. Like previous mornings, we went to the windjammer to get breakfast and got a nice window seat to enjoy the view. We noticed a small rain shower off the side of the ship that looked to be getting closer, but it was moving faster than our ship was, so it passed in front of us without getting any rain.
Esther and I returned to our cabin to enjoy the sun on our balcony for a few hours. Since our cabin is located on the "port" (right) side of the ship, we get a lot of sun in the morning and early afternoon while the sun moves across the sky.
Just before the time change at 2pm, we headed to the Royal Theater to take in another show by Pete Matthews. Pete is one of the U.K.'s premier comedy jugglers, and he has been performing on Icon of the Seas for the last several months, we got the pleasure of seeing him perform on our cruise. Pete was very enthusiastic and engaged the crowd with his performance.
After the show we headed back to our cabin to change for dinner. Tonight we dined at Wonderland which is a specialty dining option onboard. All of the specialty dining restaurants cost extra and the pricing varies based on sales and purchase dates.
The appetizers were strange and did have a lot of unique tastes as Esther enjoyed some of them more than I did. The flavors are really hard to describe, but it is for sure something the Mad Hatter would dream up and serve you and Alice.
For the main course, it was beef for Esther and chicken for me.
After dinner we stopped by the Wonderland chair to get a photo before returning to our cabin to change into more relaxing attire for a few laps around the ship's track on deck 15. After the nice walk, we headed down to the Royal Theater to take in a game of "Royal Bingo". No we didn't win, but we enjoyed the time playing with about 100 other guests.
Right after Bingo was a game show that is very popular on cruises, "Love and Marriage". The host has a newlywed couple, a middle-aged couple, and then a couple that has been married the longest. In this case, the youngest couple had been married for just 5 days. The middle couple had been married for 31 years, while the oldest couple had been married for 61 years. The host has the women go backstage while she asks the men "prying" questions, and then when the women return, they have to guess the answer that the men gave. They then switch and the men leave while the host asks the women questions. Some of the questions are hilarious, like when the host asks the men which one of their wife's family members would they want to drop off on a deserted island. The host also asked the woman which of the men's habits was annoying.
